What is an Airbrushed Sunless Tan?

An airbrushed tan is when the solution is manually sprayed on by a technician.  This allows for a more customized tan where areas of your body can be lighter or darker depending on what you like.  

Tanning Sessions

Appointments are reserved in advance in 20 minute increments. Please arrive a few minutes early to each session. We strive to meet each appointment time so that you can also stay on time for your daily activities.  

Things to Avoid 

Avoid any heavy scrubbing for the first several days to a week after your tan. When you are ready for your tan to come off, you may wish to use our Scrubtious Exfoliator. We recommend a dime-sized amount mixed with your body wash. This should remove the last remnants of your tan and get your skin prepared for your next visit. If you're not coming in right away for another tan, still follow this procedure and moisturize as normal. 

You may wish to use a newer razor during this time as older blades may need you to use a heavier hand when shaving. 

1. SHOWER AND EXFOLIATE entire body before your session.
We recommend using an exfoliating glove along with a non-moisturizing body wash.
Avoid using moisturizing soap as this could leave a film that may interfere with the tanning process.

2. DO NOT APPLY lotions, oils, deodorant or perfume before your tan. 

These will create a barrier and/or alter the color.

Clean skin will result in a more even tan. 

For your convenience, we provide facial wash and/or wipes to remove these from your skin if needed. 

If you are unable to prep as well as you'd like, no worries! Our PREP SPRAY applied immediately before we apply your tanning solution will do the trick.
 

3. WEAR DARK, LOOSE CLOTHING from your appointment. If weather permits, sandals are suggested to avoid sock lines.

4. Cover Nails to avoid staining.  We provide polish and/or barrier cream when needed.
Have manicures, pedicures and hair coloring done BEFORE your tanning session. 

 Any body waxing should be done a day or more prior to your tanning session. 

If you are not used to using lotion, now is the time to start.  

After your first shower and every day thereafter it is important to keep your skin hydrated. Use a lotion that does NOT contain any mineral oil, baby oil or petroleum as these ingredients actually dry out your skin and could result in an uneven looking tan as it fades.  Ask about our line of GLO-RIOUS ELIXERS. 

While On Vacation

While on vacation, you may wish to bring along our travel-sized bottle of Extended Stay. This every-other-day lotion is richly moisturizing and contains a small amount of the solution that we use in the salon to tan you. This prolongs your tan by keeping your skin moisturized and gradually tans you so that while on vacation your tan will stay beautiful for the duration and beyond. 

When It's Time

There are lots of ways to make sunless tanning an affordable way to get a beautiful tan without adding the risk of long sun exposure, skin cancer and other damage caused by too much time in the sun or tanning beds.

 Over the past decade, we have paid special attention to  our formulas. 

We have customized our own blends so that we are able to offer our clients and members a wide variety of options that best fit their natural skin tone while giving them a healthy natural-looking golden tan.

Our formulas do not have any of the orange undertones that are a part of spray-tan history. Instead, they are all red-based and resemble what you might actually obtain from the sun. 

Thankfully, a GLO on the GO tan will make you beautifully tan without early aging (wrinkles, sun spots, freckles) or skin cancer risks you might otherwise get from tanning beds or long hours in the sun.  

We'll guide you through the process of selecting a shade level that will produce a natural looking tan while achieving the depth you are looking for. 

Shade levels range from Light to Ultra Dark. Formulas are custom blended for every shade in between and can be mixed according to your needs prior  to your session if needed. 

We don't want your spray tan to look like a spray tan. You will be radiant head to toe and be ready for any occasion in your future. 

What is a Sunless Tan?

 Sunless tanning is also known as UV-Free tanning. 

It refers to the application of DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) to the skin.  It is often derived from plant sources such as 

sugar beets and sugar cane.
After being applied the DHA reacts with the amino acids in the skin to produce a similar appearance to a suntan.

Are your solutions organic?

 There is really no such thing as a truly organic formula. All tanning solutions contain water, which is inorganic. However, our tanning formulas are made using the highest quality natural and organic ingredients. They have been tested, approved and rated as appropriate for cosmetic use by regulation agencies in the USA and Europe. ​They are Paraben Free, Gluten Free and Vegan.

How long will it last?

 Your sunless tan should last at least a week if not longer, depending on the solution that you use, your skin type, skin preparation and maintenance.  Sunless tanners only produce color on the very outermost layer of the skin, the layer that is constantly shedding.  So as your skin sheds your tan fades.  That being said, the first 1-4 days your tan will have optimal color and slowly fade thereafter. The better you care for your skin those first few days will help it to last longer and fade more evenly.
